Erie Canal EastThis is a featured page

Feeding the Ducks, Erie Canal Pittsford, NYNew York State's Erie Canal remains a marvel of mid-19th century engineering as it flows serenely through hundreds of miles of scenic NY countryside. On Rochester's east side (the north flowing Genesee River is the divider) the Canal flows through a series of scenic small towns including Fairport and Pittsford, then through the suburb of Brighton and into the city where it intersects with the Genesee in Genesee Valley Park. Boaters can travel this corridor into downtown Rochester or continue westward towards Buffalo.
The Canal offers canal boating, recreational sports like rowing, sculling and kayaking, dozens of cafes and places to eat and drink. Pittsford's Schoen Place, in the heart of the village, offers restaurants and shopping, while the Canaltown area of Fairport is a favorite place for boaters to tie up and explore the town.
The entire length of the Canal has the original towpath, offering walkers, runners and riders an endless scenic, level trail.
